The Greater Williamsburg Distance Running Club (GWDRC) is beginning a major fundraising effort to create a national‑level cross country course in James City County, Virginia. Our goal is to secure and preserve a large, natural property where athletes of all ages can train and compete on a championship‑quality course. This project will provide a permanent home for local youth programs, high school meets, college invitationals, and major regional events, all while protecting open space and keeping the land in a natural, low‑impact state. By building a course that meets national standards, we hope to bring new opportunities to the running community and create a resource that benefits the entire region.
To make this vision a reality, GWDRC is reaching out to individuals, families, businesses, and community partners who believe in youth development, outdoor recreation, and land conservation. Our fundraising efforts will support land acquisition, trail development, and long‑term stewardship of the property.
